Alban Academy – Consultation

Alban Academy is proposing to change the age range from 9 -13 (Years 5 – 8) to 9 – 16 (Years 5 – 11).

It is proposed that the buildings currently providing educational facilities for 9–13 year olds will be extended to support a small sized school of approximately 900 pupils. Pupils currently in Year 7 would have the opportunity to take up the new places at Alban in Year 9 in September 2015, populating Years 9, 10, 11 on a year by year basis. It is anticipated that Alban Academy will be at capacity by September 2018.

Alban will be holding a Public Consultation Meeting at Alban Academy on Wednesday 23rd April at 7pm in the Main Hall. Following this meeting there will be a statutory consultation period of 4 weeks, ending on May 21st 2014.

Dog Control Order Consultation

Great Barford Parish Council wishes to seek the views of residents and stakeholders of the Parish on the introduction of dog control orders in Great Barford.  These Orders seek to ensure that dog owners keep their animals under control and take responsibility for them at all times.

The Orders that Great Barford Parish Council is proposing to introduce are as follows: 

Dog Exclusion Order: The effect of the Order is to make it an offence for a person in charge of a dog to permit the dog to enter or remain on any land to which this Order applies.

The proposed areas are:

  • Playing Field, Fishers Close
  • Jubilee Play Area

Dogs on Lead Order: The effect of the Order is to make it an offence for a person in charge of a dog to fail to ensure that a dog is kept on a lead on any land to which the Order applies.  The proposed areas are:

  • Churchyard and Graveyard
  • Village green, by the river, New Road
  • Open spaces in Chapel Field, Willoughby Close and Pyms Close

The consultation document will be delivered to each household in Great Barford.  Copies are also available from the Parish Clerk at clerk@greatbarford.org.uk or on 01234 870245.

The public consultation will run for a six week period from Monday 30th September to Friday 15th November.

 

Black Cat roundabout public meeting – 7pm, 03rd September, Great Barford Village Hall

Great Barford Playscheme 02nd – 23rd August 2013

Great Barford Parish Council is funding the first session for children from Great Barford at the playscheme this year. To take advantage of the free place this form, Great Barford Playscheme Form 2013, must be completed by a parent/guardian/carer and handed in at your child’s first session. The sessions are for children aged 5-13 years. The sessions cannot be pre-booked and are run on a first come first served basis.

Serious Road Traffic Collision – New Road/Roxton Road

Officers from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation into a serious road traffic collision which happened on October 8th.

The collision happened on Roxton Road, Great Barford at its junction with New Road at 8.30am and involved two vehicles, a Ford Transit panel van which was in collision with a bus.

The driver of the van was airlifted to Addenbrooks Hospital suffering from serious head injuries. He remains at the hospital and is described as being in a serious condition.

The driver of the bus was not injured but one of his 47 passengers reported minor facial bruising.

A full collision investigation is underway and anyone who has information relating to this collision is urged to contact the officer in charge of the case, PC Gareth Rees, at the Collision Investigation Unit, on 01438 757500, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Black Cat roundabout gets part time signals

Extraordinary Meeting – 11th October – Anti Social Behavior

An extraordinary meeting has been called by the Parish Council to discuss the anti-social behavior in the village and actions we can take. We also need to discuss funding the emergency repairs to equipment that is now in a dangerous state thanks to the damage caused by this behavior. Full details can be found here in the agenda.
