HAD A REAL TREE THIS CHRISTMAS? Don’t forget you can recycle it!

December 15, 2015 in Uncategorized

Bedford Borough Council is encouraging residents to recycle their real Christmas trees by, once again, running the popular New Year Christmas tree recycling service.

Residents can drop their real trees off at any of the eight sites across the borough from 2nd – 10th January 2016.  The trees should have all decorations removed and will be taken away to be made into compost.  The sites are:

·         Hillgrounds Road, Kempston. Opposite the shops near Hartwell Drive

·         Jubilee Park, opposite North Lodge, Canvin Way

·         Milton Ernest Garden Centre, Radwell Road off the A6

·         Mowsbury Park car park, Kimbolton Road

·         Podington Garden Centre, High Street, Podington

·         Roxton Garden Centre, Bedford Road, Roxton

·         Seasons Garden Centre, A6 at Wilstead

·         Bedford Household Waste Recycling Centre, Barkers Lane, Bedford

Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Last year we collected over 10tonnes of Christmas trees for composting. The Christmas tree recycling service offers residents a really easy and sustainable way of disposing of real trees, and we hope the service proves popular again this year.”

After the 10th January 2016, residents can still use the Household Waste Recycling Centre, at Barkers Lane, to recycle their trees. Alternatively, trees can be cut into smaller pieces and placed in the green lidded garden waste bin.
