Dog Control Order Consultation

October 1, 2013 in General News

Great Barford Parish Council wishes to seek the views of residents and stakeholders of the Parish on the introduction of dog control orders in Great Barford.  These Orders seek to ensure that dog owners keep their animals under control and take responsibility for them at all times.

The Orders that Great Barford Parish Council is proposing to introduce are as follows:

Dog Exclusion Order: The effect of the Order is to make it an offence for a person in charge of a dog to permit the dog to enter or remain on any land to which this Order applies.

The proposed areas are:

  • Playing Field, Fishers Close
  • Jubilee Play Area

Dogs on Lead Order: The effect of the Order is to make it an offence for a person in charge of a dog to fail to ensure that a dog is kept on a lead on any land to which the Order applies.  The proposed areas are:

  • Churchyard and Graveyard
  • Village green, by the river, New Road
  • Open spaces in Chapel Field, Willoughby Close and Pyms Close

The consultation document will be delivered to each household in Great Barford.  Copies are also available from the Parish Clerk at clerk@greatbarford.org.uk or on 01234 870245.
